Central London Project

A comprehensive network and wireless upgrade: every data path tested end to end, the comms room re-organised for airflow and serviceability, and an enterprise wireless upgrade benchmarked with before-and-after coverage surveys.

The Brief

A head office needed its network proven, its comms room brought back under control, and its wireless coverage upgraded. We worked through it in the order the site needed: verify the wired network, remediate the physical infrastructure, then upgrade and benchmark the wireless.

What We Delivered

Wired network verification

  • End-to-end testing of all network patching and user-outlet connections across the site
  • Patch-panel and switch-port testing, confirming every data path was functional
  • A full port map (patch panel to switch) prepared and documented, with per-port pass/fail notes
  • Connectivity testing on representative end-user devices - computers, phones and printers

Comms-room remediation

  • Cabinets serviced for airflow; fan units cleaned and reactivated where required
  • Floor-level and abandoned cabling removed; disconnected devices cleared out
  • Remaining cables re-routed and arranged to industry cable-management standards (bundling, correct patch lengths, proper ties)
  • Faulty and intermittent patch leads replaced; over-tensioned and over-long runs swapped for correct-length, low-tension alternatives meeting bend-radius and slack guidelines

Wireless upgrade

  • Supply, installation and commissioning of enterprise Cisco Meraki MR33 access points (with multi-year enterprise licensing)
  • Access points placed for coverage, updated to current firmware and commissioned
  • Pre-deployment and post-deployment wireless surveys measuring coverage, Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) and signal strength

The Result

The comms room went from a tangle of legacy and abandoned cabling to a clean, serviceable, airflow-managed installation. The wired network was fully verified and documented, and the heatmap surveys showed a clear, measured improvement in wireless coverage and signal quality across the floors after deployment.

A network proven, a comms room transformed, and wireless coverage measurably improved.
